Youth Group Retreats

Hosting Youth Camps is central to our mission: Long Scraggy provides a perfect facility for Christian organizations and churches to hold youth group retreats. Our ranch can host groups as large as 130 people.

The Ponderosa bunk house consists of 7 rooms, the Juniper cabin consists of 2 rooms, the 2 canvas wall tents and the Clems cabin are all layout to sleep 8 kids and one counselor each. A communal bath house which contains toilets, sinks and showers provides central facilities for the kids to utilize. In total these sleeping facilities house up to 96 kids along with 12 counselors.

Typically the remaining cabins house additional staff and leaders

The Grand Fir cabin sleeps 2-4 and has its own bathroom and a small kitchen.
The Pines cabin contains 4 rooms that sleep 4-6 individuals each. Each room in the Pines has its own bathroom.
The Aspen cabin sleeps 4 people. There are 2 additional restrooms with showers located in the Roundhouse for guest use.

The centrally located Roundhouse holds up to 110 people in the main room and is home to a large commercial kitchen. The Roundhouse can be a central gathering location and also can serve as a dining hall. There is a walk-in freezer and refrigerator located adjacent to the Roundhouse for convenient food storage for large groups

The Pavilion can house up to 130 and allows for outdoor snacks and meals.

Staff for youth group retreats must include a nurse and cook per Jefferson county regulations. Supervision of kids must be maintained at all times. For camps using the pool, a certified lifeguard is required. Rifle and archery instructors are required for youth groups to use these facilities.

The Ranch offers a variety of facilities and outdoor activities to keep youth engaged

the craft house with lots of table space where kids are free to create without worrying about making a mess.
2 fire pits with plenty of free firewood are available with lots of benches to accommodate large groups.
The heated indoor swimming pool is great on hot summer afternoons and cooler evenings.
The rifle range and archery range are some of the kids favorite activities.
There is an 18 hole disc golf course throughout the 40 acres of meadow and forest.
The sand volleyball court gives opportunities for groups to work together as a team.
The basketball and pickleball courts allow for team and individual activities.
The kickball/baseball field brings lots of laughter in a friendly atmosphere.
There is also a small challenge course for younger kids. Proper supervision must be provided by individual groups for this activity.
The fishing pond is available for catch and release only.
The camp has basketballs, volleyballs, discs for the disc golf course available for groups to use.
Miles and miles of various hikes surround the ranch. Hikes range from 1 mile round trip to a scenic overlook (sunset hike), a 2.5 mile round trip hike to a waterfall and a harder 3.8 mile round trip hike to the top of Long Scraggy Mountain.

Long Scraggy provides the lodging, dining and recreational facilities that makes it the ideal location to host your youth group retreats. Located approximately 1 hour from Denver makes the ranch a convenient location for parents to travel to drop off their kids. No need to rent buses and commute hours to a camp. Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch provides the space while you provide the staff to host your youth camp/retreat event. Long Scraggy allows you to plan and run your own camp with your own staff. Catering options are available upon request if you do not wish to provide your own meals and cooks. We have been hosting youth camps since 1971 and can assist you in planning for your own youth camp.
