Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch – Fall/Winter 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends of Long Scraggy,
As the seasons shift and the mountain air grows crisp, we reflect on a year filled with growth, restoration, and God’s unmistakable presence at Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch. From major infrastructure upgrades to powerful moments of fellowship, 2025 has been a year of transformation—both physical and spiritual. From youth praying in the chapel to guests encountering Christ for the first time, Long Scraggy continues to be a place where lives are changed. We are humbled by the stories shared and grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Ranch Improvements & Projects
- Water System Overhaul
The new water tank was approved by the state and installed. Piping upgrades next spring include trenching and a new pipe from the pump house to the ranch house.

- Pines Cabin Remodel
Rooms 1 & 2 were fully renovated with new insulation, wiring, showers, ceilings, flooring, and paint. Rooms 3 & 4 remodel was started this month.

- Homestead Cabin
A new conc
rete floor was poured, and interior trim work is in progress. We aim to open the Homestead for guest use in 2026. - Pool Area
Sidewalks were replaced, and plans are in motion to replace the roof. - Ponderosa Cabin
Rooms 1 & 2 foundations were lifted and reinforced with new beams. All rooms received fresh paint, artwork, and ventilation fans courtesy of Faith CRC from Elmhurst, IL. - General Upgrades
New stairs for Pines and Ponderosa cabins, painted doors at Juniper and pool house, and improved drainage behind Ponderosa. A shade structure was added near the archery range as part of an Eagle Scout project.
Volunteer Workdays
We are continually blessed by the hands and hearts of our volunteers. Churches including El Camino, Bethel (Ukrainian), Mountain View, 1st CRC and Denver Christian High School contributed to painting, electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, landscaping, and hospitality.

Special thanks to Milt & Mary Lanser and Jon Lanser for their tireless service and assistance in hosting groups.
Financial Update
Long Scraggy continues to operate debt-free. Guest revenue covers operational costs, and donations directly support ongoing improvements. We are currently raising funds for:
- Roundhouse kitchen remodel or a new multi-function building
- Bathhouse interior renovation
- Pool shelter upgrades
