

FAQs for Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch
How many can you sleep?
Up to about 130 in cabins, 4 developed campsites for RV or tents with water and electric hook-ups, plus much more room for tents and trailers.
How many people can be in the dining space?
We can seat up to 110 in the Roundhouse dining hall.
What are your pool rules?
The pool is open from late spring to early fall, depending somewhat on how many guest groups are booked. Yes, the water is heated to 80 degrees, and the greenhouse enclosure keeps it nice and warm.
Swimmers younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Hours are from 9 am to 9 pm
Do your cabins have baths?
Five cabins, each sleeping four or more, have attached baths. The larger, bunkhouse-style cabins share a separate, nearby bathhouse.
Are pets allowed?
Depending on the details and reason for visit, pets are permitted (with prior approval) at Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch at your own risk.
- Your pets must be on a leash and must be friendly to all other guests.
- Owners must clean up immediately after pets.
- Long Scraggy charges a $10 pet fee per night per pet for overnight cabin guests.
- Owners must cover the cost of any damage caused by their pet.
- Due to Jefferson County requirements & the health of all guests, pets are not allowed in the Roundhouse, swimming pool area, or community bathrooms.
What is there to do at Long Scraggy Ranch?
Besides enjoying good company and eating and sleeping, there is plenty of hiking in the surrounding Pike National Forest. A favorite with kids and families is the swimming pool, which does include a toddler wading pool. There’s also a playground for the little ones. Outdoor sports areas are here for archery, riflery, soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. Nearby, there is mountain biking/hiking on the Colorado trail and fishing in the South Platte River. Campfires in the fire pits are great evening activities. Indoor activities include board games in the Roundhouse. There is a covered, partially walled chapel for family or group worship and other activities.
- Use of pool, archery range and rifle range is at your own risk. Pool hours are 9am-9pm. Rifle range hours are 9am to 5pm daily, except on Sunday noon to 5pm. Groups must supply their own archery or rifle range equipment. Ranch quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am.
Alcohol is not all allowed on property unless specific permission is granted by Ranch Hosts. Ranch Hosts reserve the right to terminate this permission at any time. Pets are allowed in cabins (see pet fees details) and on Long Scraggy grounds. Per Jefferson County Health Department, pets are not allowed in the pool area, restrooms and inside the Roundhouse.
Do we offer food services?
External catering services are available if your group would like to pursue this option. Long Scraggy does not directly provide this service but we can help with the arrangements with a local catering service that works in partnership with Long Scraggy Ranch.
The Roundhouse kitchen is open to all guests. You may need to share the kitchen facilities with other guests when multiple small groups are staying at the ranch.
- We also have a large gas grill available.
- We have the option of the community fire pit for cooking meals.
- It is important to clean up after using the facilities, including the kitchen.
- Cleaning supplies are provided.
How about cleaning at the end of our stay?
Cleaning: During your stay, it is up to you to clean as you desire. No maid service is provided, except that paper supplies in bathrooms will be replenished and kitchen towels laundered as needed. Before you depart, you are responsible to clean all buildings, restrooms, and grounds areas that you have used according to the cleaning instruction sheet (available from Ranch Hosts and posted in cabins and Roundhouse). Cleaning supplies are found in the “cleaning supply room” in the back of the Roundhouse and in the cleaning supply closet, located at the bathhouse. Ranch Host will assess the cleaning of each portion of camp used. A $50 per hour cleaning charge will be added if portions of camp are not cleaned properly.
How do we get to Long Scraggy?

From Denver, take Hwy 285 (Hampden) West bound until you get to Pine Junction. At Pine Junction take a left(South) on Hwy 126 (Pine Valley Road), take Hwy 126 approx. 13 miles until you reach Spring Creek Trail. At Spring Creek Trail take another left and drive approx. 1 mile to the driveway of the camp. 20203 Spring Creek Trail is the physical address.

Do you need bedding or towels?
Long Scraggy does not supply bedding or towels. We suggest you bring a sleeping bag or a sheet and blanket. The majority of our beds are twin size mattresses plus some queen and double beds are available. We do keep a couple extra sets of twin sheets, pillows, blankets and a sleeping bag in case guests forget to bring their own.

Our Recreation
The Pike National Forest surrounds the Ranch on three sides so hiking is abundant. The resident directors can assist you with planning hikes. The Ranch has areas for swimming, volleyball, basketball, softball, horseshoes, Frisbee golf, shuffleboard, archery, fishing and 22-caliber rifle target shooting. Equipment that must be furnished by you includes softball gloves, guns, ammunition, bows, arrows, and targets. The Ranch has other standard equipment for these activities; however, because of heavy use, you may be more content by bringing your own sports equipment.
There is playground equipment for children. There are some books and board games in the Roundhouse.
Do you have Wi-Fi or phone service?
There is a phone available in the Roundhouse. Please limit calls as this phone is shared with the Ranch hosts.
Cell phone coverage has not yet arrived on the Ranch grounds. It is available a short drive up the hill near Hwy 126. Wi-Fi is available at the ranch on an as needed basis.

Craft house: Tables and benches appropriate for working on many kinds of craft projects.
Chapel: Covered, open on three sides. Bench seating.
Bathhouse: Showers, sinks, toilets—one side for women, one side for men.
Pool: Enclosed building. Heated pool used mid-May through Setember (seasonal opening and closing of the pool is weather dependent), Dressing rooms and bathrooms.
Picnic Pavilion: Covered area with picnic tables, also has electric outlets.

How many can the pavilion hold?
Picnic tables can seat up to 130 people. 14 picnic tables and includes an outdoor gas grill. Additional folding tables and chairs can also be used under and around the pavilion.
Where should we put our trash?
Garbage from the kitchen must be collected daily and put in the dumpster. All food refuse should be put in the dumpster with the steel lid closed, to prevent bears from raiding the garbage. Outdoor trash cans should be emptied nightly to prevent attracting wildlife. A $50 per hour cleaning charge will be added if your group does not dispose of trash properly.
What are my responsibilities?
- The Rocky Mountain Christian Conference Grounds Association (RMCCGA) is the legal owner of Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch. RMCCGA is a Christian organization and expects all guests to respect and support its Christian values.
- RMCCGA is not responsible for personal injury occurring while on the Ranch grounds. For groups, the group leader must assure that their group is properly insured and that the ranch rules are fully explained to all participants.
- Guests are responsible to provide adequate adult supervision for all members of their group or family at all times – including at least one adult sleeping in each cabin with children. Guests are responsible to provide their own adult supervision at the pool, and their own qualified supervisor at the rifle and archery ranges. Guests must provide their own supervision for the use of the team building structures. It is advised that groups have someone that is certified to administer first aid and CPR. For youth camps, Jefferson County regulations concerning required supervision and support services must be followed. It is your responsibility to ensure these regulations are met.
