A Mountain Get-Away

 

Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch offers facilities for children's camps, family or group camping, church conferences and family reunions. Rustic cabins and bunkhouses are available as well as the comfortable four-unit Pines Lodge, each with private bath. The Roundhouse, the heart of Long Scraggy, provides a dining hall, kitchen and lounge area with a stone fireplace. A beautiful enclosed pool is available April through October.

 

Far from the noise and stress of the city—but less than ninety minutes drive from Denver—lies Long Scraggy Mountain Ranch. Near the tiny village of Buffalo Creek, bordered on three sides by the Pike National Forest, Long Scraggy is truly a sheltered place for relaxation.

The rainbow pictured was taken from the roundhouse we could see both ends and the camera did not do justice to the brightness of the colors.  If you look closely you can see a barely visible double rainbow in the top left of the picture.  Compliments of one of our campers.

Long Scraggy News Spring 2007

 

Well this winter was an adventure to say the least.  We had over 130 inches of snow at the camp and March is typically our wettest month.  We've battled drifts of 6 feet deep and plowed and then plowed some more.  In the midst of all this snow our new pool was being built.  This includes new locker rooms which will have non-private showers to rinse the dirt and dust off before cooling off this summer in the pool.  We are also getting close to completing the Bathhouse shower remodel.  We also have added Clem's Cabin to our sleeping quarters.  As you can see many changes have been occuring. 

 

The Long Scraggy Race this year will be April 28th at 9:00 A.M. it is a 4 mile run and 1.5 mile walk with all proceeds going to upgrade the facilities.  If you would like to volunteer or participate please give us a call. 

 

Our summer season for 2007 is looking very good with almost all of June< July, and August full with camps.  So keep us in mind for your spring or fall weekend trips and don't wait to start looking at the 2008 summer season.
